Episode 80
This episode was the Thanksgiving episode. So the main point was to give thanks for the tools that they were thankful for and one's they want to go away. First they talked about Moodle. I thought it was really cool because that was what my high school started using last year. Moodle has many different tools, and is very interactive, so everyone students and teachers alike are learning. Ever Note is a cloud based note-taking advice. Basically it allows you to save notes online, and add audio or photos. Word Press is a blog site, and the site they use for hosting their podcast site. iPad was something they both love so much for the classroom. They love the interactivity and how easy it is for everyone to use. Google Drive was also something they enjoyed. Since everything can be set up to be shared and seen by a class. One things they didn't like was Blackberrys. They thought it was just for e-mail. But they were excited to see what the new Blackberry would hold. Google Wave was supposed to be as a social site, but in many other was it was integrated on different aspects of Google. Blackboard was the next one. I agreed with this because of my experiences last semester. Barbara and Chris thought it was just a one-way tool. Powerpoint was another negative. They didn't like how it was linear, and hasn't much changed since 1994.

Holly, these all seem like helpful tools for education. I can agree on how blackboard and Powerpoint can be boring to work with. The other things you mentioned seem like a better way to capture students attention, and to help them foster there learning.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the cloud-based notes. Since the classroom is moving away from pen and paper to technology it would be nice to have a way to save all your notes without taking up space on your laptop and you would always have an archive of all your notes opposed to a thousand spirals laid around your house.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like an interesting, and more interactive, way for students to communicate with each other and the teacher. This could also be very helpful for more shy students to help them express themselves more openly using this than what they originally would in class. Also the ability to save material is extremely helpful.
