Episode 79
Today's topic was assessing your students. Which I think everyone understands would be very important in the classroom. Traditionally it's all about tests and report cards, but Chris and Barbara discussed how that doesn't go into a lot of detail and lack of information of what students are actually doing in school. I totally agreed with that and I liked the ideas they discussed. Barbara talked about setting up portfolios and blogs, much like what we are doing in this class. Next they talked about digital badges, Mozilla made the Digital Media and Learning Competition Chris is actually creating digital badges, right now for this program. It's a really awesome idea! Finally they discussed the Google Chromebook. They sound like a really great laptop, and make life a lot easier. I wish I would have known about it before I bought the one I have now.

I really like the idea for this laptop. It sounds like it has many affective things for both educators and students. Technology is becoming more involved in education, and I think this is a great way to incorporate that! Sounds very interesting!
ReplyDeleteI like this post because I think it will work well for everyone. Learning competition with technology increases the amount of time people into things because they want to be number one. Hoping I read that right.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of finding different ways to assess students besides traditional pen and paper tests. Being a student who did not do well on tests even if I grasped the concept, the idea of being able to demonstrate what I learned in a different manner is definitely something I'm on board with.
ReplyDeleteI like that this post relates a lot to this class in the sense that we are blogging and doing things like that. It makes it very easy to relate to. These all seem like fun and interesting ways to make a classroom more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI hate that all the teachers have to teach not the Curriculum but the star test.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! The idea for the laptop is very interesting! Computers are something one can never get bored with! Always new things to discover!
